Social construction of gender difference
A gender role can be defined as a set of social and behavioral norms that are generally considered appropriate for either a man or a woman in a social or interpersonal relationship. There are differences of opinion as to which observed differences in behavior and personality between genders are entirely due to innate personality of the person and which are due to cultural or social factors, and are therefore the product of socialization, or to what extent gender differences are due to biological and physiological differences.[1]

Universities as centres for knowledge creation and
dissemination are conceived as a democratising space which
should enable both female and male staff and students to
realise their full potential. However, complaints of sexual

thereby stimulating and supporting an environment free of
sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

Most Nigerians are not a picnicking people. But those who are mostly go to places of interest mostly on public holidays commemorating one religious festival or the other.
At the last Yuletide, it was business as usual as many of them, particularly city dwellers, thronged these places of interests which include zoological gardens, botanical gardens, amusement parks and beaches. However, most revellers in Lagos got very rude shock when they discovered large chunks of their beloved beaches had been claimed by the sea. Also, several signs, which hitherto had been absent, were present restricting their cherished freedom. Most of them did not voice out their reservations against this. They were, however, eloquent in their silence.

THE Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana and former Minister of Power and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese have called on the Federal Government to declare Ibadan, the Oyo State capital a disaster zone. The monarch and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain made the call yesterday in their response to the havoc caused by the flood which swept across the city.. The Otun Olubadan, Chief Omowale Kuye, who spoke on behalf of the Olubadan-in-Council during an on-the-spot assessment of the damage at Apete in the city said the declaration would pave the way for the reconstruction to put Ibadan back on its feet.
